Karnataka DCM DK Shivakumar Accuses BJP and JDS of Disturbing State Peace
Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, D K Shivakumar, accused BJP and JDS of trying to disturb the peace in the state for political gains, during his speech at the Martyrs’ Day event at the KPCC office. He emphasized that the Congress party values peace highly, but alleged that BJP and JDS are colluding to disrupt it for their interests. Shivakumar mentioned their politics around the saffron flag in Mandya, stating the Congress party has no objections to flags being hoisted on private properties, but insisted that only the national or state flags should be used in public spaces.
Shivakumar highlighted the Congress party’s dedication to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, stating that Gandhi’s vision and principles continue to inspire and are adopted by leaders worldwide. He proudly noted the Congress party’s role in India’s independence under Gandhi’s leadership. The DCM also shared the initiatives taken by the Congress government in Karnataka to keep Gandhi’s ideals alive, such as the establishment of a Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University and a replica of Sabarmati Ashram at the university.
In his call to party workers, Shivakumar urged them to follow Gandhi’s path to win hearts, not just wars. He emphasized the importance of working with compassion and commitment and encouraged the party workers to mobilize votes at the booth level, drawing inspiration from Hanuman’s service to Lord Rama. He concluded by reiterating the need to fight communal forces and follow Gandhi’s teachings in handling others with heart.
