Controversial Trainee IAS Officer Puja Khedkar Under Scrutiny for Alleged Misuse of Authority

Puja Khedkar, a probationary IAS officer in Maharashtra, has come under intense scrutiny following allegations of misconduct and misuse of authority. The controversy surrounding Khedkar, who secured an all-India rank of 821 in the UPSC exams, has led to investigations and administrative actions.

Khedkar, posted as an assistant collector in Pune, allegedly flouted service rules by using government privileges on her private Audi car, including a red-blue beacon and a Maharashtra government board. Furthermore, she reportedly occupied the office chamber of another senior officer without permission and removed office furniture against protocol.

The situation escalated after Pune district collector Suhas Diwase recommended her transfer to Washim district, citing administrative concerns. Allegations have also surfaced regarding discrepancies in her eligibility for the IAS, including claims of submitting forged disability and OBC certificates during the civil services examination. These allegations, compounded by her father’s reported political influence, have sparked public outcry and calls for thorough investigation into her appointment and conduct.

Authorities have initiated a probe into these allegations, with the Pune Police recently examining the Audi car in question. The case has raised significant questions about transparency and accountability within the state’s administrative service, prompting demands for stricter scrutiny of officer appointments and conduct.

Puja Khedkar’s controversy underscores broader concerns about integrity and compliance within India’s bureaucratic framework, highlighting the need for stringent measures to uphold ethical standards and prevent abuse of authority among civil servants.
