Covid-19 vaccines available for children aged 12 to 14 starting on Wednesday: Govt

From March 16, the government will begin distributing the Covid-19 vaccination to children aged 12-13 and 13-14.

Corbevax, manufactured by Biological-E in Hyderabad, will be given to the new age group, according to the health ministry. Corbevax is the first Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) Protein sub-unit vaccine developed in India against Covid-19.

On February 21, India’s drug regulator gave Hyderabad-based Biological E’s Corbevax emergency use authorization for children aged 12 to 18. The vaccine is currently being administered to people over the age of 14 as part of an ongoing vaccination program.

Meanwhile, the central government has decided to remove the co-morbidity requirement for the Covid-19 precaution dose for people over the age of 60. The precautionary third dose is now available to anyone over the age of 60.
