Legal Trouble for ‘Jolly LLB 3’ as Ajmer Bar Association Files Complaint

The filming of ‘Jolly LLB 3’, featuring Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, has hit a legal hurdle as the Ajmer District Bar Association has lodged a complaint alleging that the film disrespects the Indian judiciary. The President of the Association, Chandrabhan Singh Rathod, claimed the film portrays lawyers and judges in a manner that tarnishes their image, citing scenes of courtroom antics that are both “humorous and indecent.” The complaint also highlighted other scenes, such as a lawyer being chased with a stick and a judge consuming ‘gutkha’, which they believe do not uphold the dignity of the judiciary.

The association has taken the matter to court, requesting the Civil Judge of Ajmer North to halt the production. The hearing for this case is scheduled for today. The filmmakers, including director Subhash Kapoor, have been accused of not respecting the judiciary’s dignity, which has been a recurring theme in the previous films of the franchise as well.

The Jolly LLB series, which began in 2013, has been known for its satirical take on the Indian legal system. Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi are reprising their roles as lawyers in the third installment, with scenes currently being shot in and around Ajmer. Despite the controversy, the team remains hopeful about the project, sharing a light-hearted video from the set, indicating their enthusiasm for what they describe as a “jolly good ride.”
