JD(S) Accuses Congress Leader of Conspiracy in Explicit Video Scandal, SIT Formed

In a startling accusation, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has claimed that 25,000 pen drives containing sexually explicit videos of his nephew, Prajwal Revanna, were distributed across Karnataka to tarnish his image ahead of the last month’s Lok Sabha elections. Kumaraswamy pointed fingers at Congress leader DK Shivakumar for orchestrating this plot, which primarily targeted the Bengaluru Rural constituency of Shivakumar’s brother, DK Suresh. The distribution of these videos coincided with the arrest of Revanna’s father in a separate case linked to alleged sexual assault and kidnapping.

Further complicating the political drama, Kumaraswamy criticized the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Karnataka government, dismissing it as a “Siddaramaiah Investigation Team” and “Shivakumar Investigation Team,” suggesting a bias in the investigation led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. His skepticism was fueled by Siddaramaiah’s comments predicting the defeat of all three JD(S) candidates in the elections, a statement made more controversial after explicit videos were publicly associated with Prajwal Revanna.

The JD(S) has responded by suspending Prajwal Revanna and authorities have issued a Blue Corner notice to ascertain his whereabouts since he reportedly fled abroad on April 27, a day after the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Meanwhile, HD Kumaraswamy has expressed frustration over the lack of action against the individuals named in a complaint filed by his party’s polling agent, questioning the disparity in response to different political scandals.
