Delhi Excise Policy Probe: ED Questions Kejriwal’s Aide, AAP MLA Summoned

In the latest developments surrounding the contentious Delhi excise policy case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been actively questioning key figures related to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was brought in for questioning by the ED. Adding to the political drama, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak has been summoned to appear before the agency on Monday, signaling an intensification of the investigation.

Amid these developments, the Delhi High Court encountered a plea demanding the ouster of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In a hearing held on Monday, Justice Subramonium Prasad criticized the plea as a bid for “publicity,” suggesting that the petitioner, former AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar, should face “heavy costs” for the move. The plea was subsequently transferred to Acting Chief Justice Manmohan’s court, where similar cases have been addressed, reflecting the judiciary’s stance on political litigations.

In related news, AAP leader Atishi is set to respond to a notice from the Election Commission (EC) regarding her allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The EC’s notice, dated April 6, demanded a detailed reply to Atishi’s claim of being approached by the BJP, highlighting the importance of adhering to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and avoiding unverified statements during election campaigns. The political landscape in Delhi remains fraught with accusations and investigations as parties navigate the complexities of the electoral process.
