ED Files Supplementary Charge Sheet Against Lalu Prasad Yadav in Land-for-Jobs Scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has submitted a supplementary charge sheet against former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav, and eight others in a money laundering case linked to the land-for-jobs scam. The charge sheet was filed before Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court, which will hear arguments from both sides on August 13. This follows the initial charge sheet filed by the ED in January, naming former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her daughter, MP Misa Bharti.
The investigation also implicates Amit Katyal, a close associate of the Yadav family, along with six other individuals, including Hema Yadav and Hridayanand Chaudhary, as well as associated companies. The alleged scam dates back to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as the Railway Minister in the UPA-1 government from 2004 to 2009, during which several individuals were reportedly appointed to Group “D” positions in the Indian Railways in exchange for transferring their land to the Yadav family and a linked company, A K Infosystems Private Limited.
The money laundering case, pursued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), stems from a complaint lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The ED’s continued investigation underscores the serious nature of the allegations and the ongoing scrutiny of political figures involved in the alleged corruption.
