Elderly Doctor Brutally Murdered in Delhi Home, House Help and Accomplices Arrested

In a shocking incident in southeast Delhi, Dr. Yogesh Chandra Paul, a 63-year-old physician, was found murdered in his residence on May 10. Delhi Police have arrested his long-time house help, Basanti, and two others, Akash Joshi and Himanshu, for their involvement in the crime. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Deo revealed that Basanti, who had been working with the family for 24 years, was the mastermind behind the murder, meticulously planning the attack by showing her accomplices the interior of the house via video calls.

The accused allegedly assaulted Dr. Paul, gagging and tying him to a chair, before dragging him to the kitchen where he was fatally hit on the head with a blunt object and strangled with a dog leash. The assailants locked the victim’s dogs in the bathroom and ransacked the house before fleeing. The gruesome scene was discovered by Dr. Paul’s wife, who immediately alerted the authorities. The police swiftly analyzed CCTV footage which showed six individuals leaving the house in intervals, leading to rapid apprehensions.

While Basanti and her two aides are in custody, police are actively searching for five more suspects believed to be involved, including two Nepal citizens suspected to have fled across the border. The ongoing investigation has prompted calls for stringent verification processes for domestic workers to prevent such heinous crimes.
