Rahul Gandhi Promises Financial Empowerment for Millions in Election Campaign

In a recent public meeting in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli district, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sharply criticized the current Modi administration for its economic policies, claiming they have only benefited a select few, creating 22 new billionaires. He contrasted this by pledging that a Congress-led government would focus on creating ‘lakhpatis’ among millions of ordinary Indians. Gandhi announced that if elected, his administration would initiate a program on June 4 to deposit ₹1 lakh into the bank account of one woman from every poor family.

Addressing the crowd, Rahul Gandhi articulated his party’s commitment to redistributing wealth more fairly across India’s vast population. “If they can make 22 billionaires, we can make crores of ‘lakhpatis’,” he asserted. This statement comes at a crucial time as the ongoing seven-phased Lok Sabha elections approach their conclusion, with results expected on the same day as the proposed initiation of the Congress empowerment scheme.

The Congress leader is also contesting from Rae Bareli, a seat previously held by him from 2004 to 2019, aiming to regain his influence in a region overshadowed by his loss to Union Minister Smriti Irani in Amethi during the 2019 elections. Amidst these electoral contests, Rahul Gandhi continues to encourage massive voter turnout, emphasizing the direct impact of each vote on democratic rights and economic opportunities for the poor.
