Harrods Abuse Survivors Recognised as Trafficking Victims

Four women who accused late Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed of abuse have been officially recognised as victims of human trafficking by the UK’s interior ministry. The survivors, who are part of the “No One Above” advocacy group, said the decision validates years of allegations involving assault, rape and trafficking.

The women, identified by pseudonyms Isabella, Justine, Elizabeth and Margo, were referred to Britain’s National Referral Mechanism by the charity Unseen UK. Their experiences, spanning from the 1990s to the 2010s, involved both domestic and international trafficking linked to Al-Fayed’s businesses, including Harrods and the Ritz hotel in Paris.

More than 150 alleged victims have now come forward with accusations against Al-Fayed, who died in 2023 without facing prosecution. Investigators in both the UK and France are examining claims that others may have helped facilitate and conceal the alleged crimes.
