“In Heat Of Moment”, Says Aaftab Poonawala In Court On Killing Girlfriend

Aaftab Poonawala was brought before the Saket court through video conferencing in a special hearing today, and the court increased his police detention to four further days. Today marked the end of his five-day confinement.

Shraddha Walkar’s live-in boyfriend Aaftab Ameen Poonawala, who is accused of killing her, admitted Wednesday in a Delhi court that he killed her “in the heat of the moment.” Additionally, he claimed that what is currently being reported about him is “not totally factual.”
Aaftab, 28, claimed he has been helping the authorities and has even provided maps showing where he placed the body parts.

He promised the court that he would give all the information, but it has been so long that he can’t remember much of it.According to Aaftab’s attorney, Avinash, the police requested further time in prison, claiming the Investigating Officer had received a sketch of a pond from Aaftab and wanted to transport him there for further investigation. “Aaftab testified in court that the police are treating him nicely and that he is working with them.

He claimed that he is not deceiving or lying to them. Additionally, the police didn’t challenge his claim in court “Added he. Aaftab will be taken to two ponds in south Delhi, one in Maidangarhi and the other in Mehrauli forest, to search for the body parts.According to sources with the Delhi Police, Aaftab claimed during questioning that he had tossed the saw and blade he had used to hack off Shraddha’s body in the bushes of DLF Phase 3, Gurugram. Two times, a Delhi Police team examined those shrubs. According to accounts, he threw the meat cleaver in a trash can near the 100-foot road in Mehrauli, south Delhi.

The forensics team discovered blood stains after they damaged the bathroom tiles in Aaftab’s Chhatarpur apartment, where he killed Shraddha. DNA testing on the tiles have been forwarded to a lab.The Delhi Police gathered some evidence from the bushes in Gurugram on the first day of the investigation, last Friday, and sent it to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory for further examination. The Delhi Police had travelled to Gurugram with metal detectors on the second day, last Saturday, but they came back empty-handed. Aaftab was also taken to the store where he had purchased the saw blade, which is located only 250 metres from his home.
