IndiGo Faces Criticism as Passenger Highlights Missing Seat Cushion on Pune to Nagpur Flight

Social media erupted in criticism directed at IndiGo Airlines after a passenger, Subrat Patnaik, posted a photo of a missing seat cushion on flight 6E 6798 from Pune to Nagpur. The image, showcasing seat 10A without its cushion, sparked outrage online, with users condemning the airline’s service quality. Patnaik’s post quickly gained traction, drawing attention to the airline’s alleged oversight, and prompting varied responses from other social media users who expressed dismay and sarcasm at the situation.

IndiGo Airlines swiftly responded to Patnaik’s post, apologizing for the incident and explaining that occasionally seat cushions might detach due to Velcro issues. The airline assured passengers that such issues could be rectified with crew assistance and pledged to relay the feedback to the concerned team for further review. This incident, however, isn’t the first time IndiGo has faced public scrutiny. Previously, actors Pooja Hegde and Rana Daggubati had criticized the airline for various service-related issues and staff behavior.

Rana Daggubati, in 2022, had termed his experience with IndiGo as the “worst airline experience ever” due to mishandling of his luggage and flight timing discrepancies. Similarly, Pooja Hegde had accused an IndiGo official of using an “arrogant, ignorant, and threatening tone for no reason.” The airline had previously apologized to Daggubati for the inconvenience caused by his missing luggage. Additionally, in a separate incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had imposed a fine of ₹5 lakh on IndiGo Airlines for denying boarding to a boy with special needs on a flight departing from Ranchi in May of the previous year.
