Japanese Influencer Faces Backlash for Recording Daughter in Hot Car for Social Media

A Japanese influencer has sparked outrage online after posting a video of his two-year-old daughter trapped in a hot car to increase his social media traffic. The incident, reported by the South China Morning Post, began on May 24 when the influencer and his wife, known on YouTube as “raunano_family” with around 58,000 subscribers, shared a video titled “My Daughter Trapped in a Car Under the Burning Sun.” The father explained that he was picking up their son from kindergarten with his two daughters when the younger girl, Nanoka, accidentally locked herself inside the vehicle. Instead of immediately seeking help, he began filming the distressed child while shouting, “It’s an emergency! Nanoka is locked in the car. The car is locked, and she cannot get out!”

In the video, the two-year-old can be seen sweating and crying as her father instructs her on how to unlock the door. Despite the urgent situation, the father opted not to contact the police, instead calling a locksmith who eventually freed the child. According to the report, Nanoka was left in the car for nearly half an hour, and it remains unclear if the ordeal had any lasting impact on her health. The video drew widespread condemnation, leading the couple to issue an apology, stating they were “very sorry for making a video that made everyone uncomfortable.”

The online community was quick to criticize the parents, with many expressing disbelief at their actions. One user commented, “Does the money you earn from risking your child’s life make you feel good?” Another shared their own experience, saying, “The parents are crazy. I have encountered a similar situation, and at that time, my heart was broken and I was so nervous that I felt like I wasn’t even alive. It’s amazing that someone can stay so calm to record this on their phone.” The incident has ignited a broader discussion on the ethical boundaries of content creation and the lengths some influencers will go to for online fame.
