Juice Allegedly In Drip, Not Platelets, Patient Dies, UP Hospital Sealed

After a preliminary investigation by the district administration into the incident revealed mistakes on the part of the hospital administration, a private hospital in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where a dengue patient died after allegedly receiving fruit juice instead of blood platelets during a transfusion, has been closed. The patient’s family has urged the state government to punish those guilty severely.

At the Global Hospital and Trauma Center in Prayagraj, the 32-year-old patient’s family allegedly received sweet lime juice in a bag labelled “plasma” (formerly Allahabad). According to the patient’s relatives, his condition got worse after receiving a transfusion from one of the hospital’s supply bags. The patient was moved to a second private hospital, where he passed away, and the family was informed.

The patient was transferred to a second private hospital, where he passed away, according to the patient’s relatives, who also stated that the doctors at this second hospital informed them the “platelet” bag was phoney and actually contained a mixture of drugs and sweet juice or mosambi.

The man’s family has called for harsh action to be taken against the hospital workers. Saurabh Tripathi, a cousin of the patient, stated, “I want the Yogi Adityanath government to take strict action against the hospital for the breaches. My 26-year-old sister is widowed.”

In response to the viral video showing a dengue patient receiving sweet lemon juice instead of platelets, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak ordered the hospital to be sealed, and the platelet packets were sent for testing. “If found guilty, strict action will be taken against the hospital,” Mr. Pathak added.

According to the Additional Chief Medical Officer of Prayagraj, the facility was sealed on the chief medical officer’s orders and would be sealed until the sample is tested.

The institution in question has denied the accusations, claiming that the victims’ family actually obtained the platelets. According to the hospital’s owner, the patient’s platelet count fell to 17,000, at which point his family was requested to arrange for blood platelets.

“Five units of platelets were provided from a public hospital. The patient reacted after receiving three units of blood transfusion. We thus stopped it “The hospital’s owner stated in a statement that he is in favour of a probe as well.
