Kangana Ranaut Reflects on Rahul Gandhi’s Political Career Amidst Lok Sabha Elections

In a candid interview with Aaj Tak, actor Kangana Ranaut, who is venturing into politics with a BJP ticket from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, shared her thoughts on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Ranaut suggested that Gandhi, who is contesting from Kerala’s Wayanad in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, might be in politics against his will, hinting at the pressures of dynastic politics. The actor-turned-politician expressed sympathy towards Gandhi, noting, “I think he is put under intense pressure repeatedly, irrespective of whether he can do that task or not. He will be 60 in a few years, yet, time and again, he is launched as a ‘young leader’.”

Ranaut further elaborated on the challenges faced by individuals born into political dynasties, drawing parallels with the film industry where she has witnessed similar pressures. She remarked, “Children become victims of nepotism. What if he wants to do something else, become an actor, for example? He can be an actor. In the film industry, I have seen people who are being pressured by their parents (to join the industry). Their lives have been ruined.” This reflection was part of her broader commentary on the consequences of familial expectations in shaping one’s career path, whether in politics or any other field.

The conversation also touched upon Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi’s sister, with Ranaut reiterating her compassionate stance towards both siblings. “I like them both (Rahul and Priyanka). It looks like they have troubled lives…they deserve a happy life. It’s not too late…their mother (Sonia Gandhi) must guide them,” she said, emphasizing the potential for a happier life beyond the political arena. This exchange sheds light on the often-overlooked personal struggles of public figures, offering a reminder of the complex interplay between personal desires and professional obligations.
