Kejriwal Accuses Modi of Targeting His Ailing Parents Amid Political Tensions

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 23 accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of crossing all limits by targeting his elderly and ailing parents to “break” him. During a virtual press conference, Kejriwal expressed outrage over the alleged harassment of his parents, particularly highlighting his 85-year-old father’s hearing issues and his mother’s multiple ailments.

Kejriwal, who has faced numerous legal challenges, including his own arrest in connection with the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, claimed that this new low was an attempt to force his surrender. He criticized the police’s intention to question his parents about the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal at his residence, an act he deems unjustifiable given their health conditions.

Despite the arrest of his close aide Bibhav Kumar in the assault case, Kejriwal called for a fair investigation. Emphasizing the sub-judice nature of the case, he refrained from further comments to avoid influencing the proceedings, while Maliwal remarked on the irony of his demand for justice and a fair probe.
