Kaamya Karthikeyan Becomes Youngest Indian to Summit Mt. Everest from Nepal Side
Sixteen-year-old Kaamya Karthikeyan has set a remarkable record as the youngest Indian mountaineer to scale Mount Everest from the Nepal side. The Indian Navy confirmed this achievement, noting that Kaamya is also the second youngest girl worldwide to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak. Accompanied by her father, Commander S Karthikeyan, she successfully reached the summit on May 20.
Kaamya, a class 12 student at Navy Children School in Mumbai, has shown exceptional determination and skill in mountaineering. With this recent achievement, she has completed six of the seven peaks in her mission to climb the highest mountain on each continent. The Indian Navy praised her bravery and fortitude, highlighting her progress towards becoming the youngest girl to complete the ‘7 Summits Challenge.’
In a social media post on platform X, the Navy extended their congratulations and best wishes to Kaamya. They lauded her courage in summiting the highest peaks across six continents and expressed their support for her upcoming expedition to Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica this December, which will complete her 7 Summits Challenge.
