The band’s four members—Roseanne Park (Rose), Jennie Kim, Jisoo Kim, and Lalisa Manoban (Lisa)—stood alongside South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol during his official visit to the United Kingdom. The honor recognized their pivotal role as COP26 Advocates for the United Nations’ critical climate summit in Glasgow back in 2021, marking a significant recognition of their efforts in championing environmental sustainability on a global scale.

During the ceremony held in the illustrious 1844 Room at Buckingham Palace, King Charles commended the band, applauding their contribution in amplifying the message of environmental sustainability to a worldwide audience. He praised BLACKPINK for their commitment as Ambassadors during the U.K.’s Presidency of COP26 and later as advocates for the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals. Amid the formalities, the King shared a light moment with the band, jesting about their enduring camaraderie and expressing his desire to witness a live performance. Additionally, the military band of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards paid tribute to BLACKPINK by playing their music while changing the guard on the palace forecourt, further celebrating the group’s cultural impact.
