King Charles Honors BLACKPINK as Honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire for Climate Advocacy
In a historic moment at Buckingham Palace, King Charles bestowed the prestigious Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) medals upon the globally acclaimed K-Pop sensation BLACKPINK. The band’s four members—Roseanne Park (Rose), Jennie Kim, Jisoo Kim, and Lalisa Manoban (Lisa)—stood alongside South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol during his official visit to the United Kingdom. The honor recognized their pivotal role as COP26 Advocates for the United Nations’ critical climate summit in Glasgow back in 2021, marking a significant recognition of their efforts in championing environmental sustainability on a global scale.
During the ceremony held in the illustrious 1844 Room at Buckingham Palace, King Charles commended the band, applauding their contribution in amplifying the message of environmental sustainability to a worldwide audience. Additionally, the military band of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards paid tribute to BLACKPINK by playing their music while changing the guard on the palace forecourt, further celebrating the group’s cultural impact.
