Massive ₹353 Crore Cash Seized in Raids on Odisha Distillery Linked to Congress MP’s Family
In a startling development, a series of raids conducted by the income tax department at multiple locations connected to Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu’s family has uncovered an astonishing cash stash exceeding ₹353 crore. The investigations primarily targeted Boudh Distilleries Private Limited, with an expanded scope encompassing Baldev Sahu Infra Pvt Ltd, both alleged to be linked to the MP from Jharkhand. These intensive operations, spanning over several days, culminated in the seizure of an immense amount of unaccounted cash, suspected to stem from the sale of country liquor.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, speaking at the 43rd convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, made a poignant reference to the ongoing cash-counting efforts during the raids. Dhankar humorously urged the budding minds at the institution to innovate a machine capable of swiftly tallying large volumes of currency notes, citing the laborious task undertaken by fifty bank officials equipped with forty counting machines who tirelessly engaged in the five-day counting process. Dhankar highlighted the urgent need to eradicate corruption, emphasizing that corrupt practices no longer yield influence in corridors of power.
The ongoing investigations by the income tax department point towards a significant revelation regarding unreported income generated allegedly from the sale of country liquor by the entities associated with the Congress MP’s family.
