Microblogging Platform X Faces Widespread Outage, Users Report Inaccessible Feeds

Users of the popular microblogging platform X, formerly known as Twitter, encountered a significant service disruption today, with reports pouring in around 11 am indicating widespread inaccessibility. Thousands of individuals across various regions noted their inability to access the platform, expressing frustration as feeds remained inaccessible via both web interfaces and mobile apps. Gadgets 360 personnel also confirmed the inability to view any posts during attempts to access the platform.

While the outage persisted for nearly an hour, with reports surpassing 67,000 on Downdetector and over 4,800 on the Indian version of the website, X seemed to gradually restore functionality by approximately 12:10 pm. Notably, during the disruption, users experienced empty feeds and encountered difficulties in viewing any posts, including those from prominent figures like the platform’s owner, Elon Musk. The platform’s API Status page, however, indicated that all systems were operational during this period, contrasting with the widespread user-reported issues.

Despite the partial restoration, certain sections of X continued to exhibit erratic behavior. While the trending topics section displayed hashtags currently popular in users’ regions, clicking on these topics yielded no posts, leaving feeds barren. Additionally, attempts to access Lists only prompted a message indicating the platform’s incapacity to fetch posts from listed users.

However, amidst the disruption, some functionalities remained intact. Spaces, the audio discussion feature, continued to operate normally, allowing users to engage in discussions regarding the service’s unavailability. Notably, direct messages and notifications for users’ posts appeared unaffected, yet users encountered difficulties viewing tweets when clicking on notifications.

The cause of the outage remains undisclosed as X gradually restores full functionality, leaving users both relieved at the platform’s recovery and concerned about the intermittent disruptions in service.
