Narottam Mishra Criticizes Congress for Constitution Display in Parliament

Former Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra criticized the Congress and the INDIA bloc for displaying copies of the Constitution in Parliament, highlighting Sonia Gandhi’s presence during the 1975 Emergency declaration by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Mishra addressed a BJP event honoring those imprisoned under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the Emergency, accusing the Congress of hypocrisy.

Mishra claimed the Congress had amended the Constitution over 100 times during its 70-year rule and accused the INDIA bloc leaders of misleading the public with false claims. He alleged that their actions were more about securing the political futures of their children rather than genuinely protecting the Constitution.

The criticism came a day after the INDIA bloc members waved copies of the Constitution in Parliament as Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha, a gesture meant to showcase their commitment to constitutional values.
