Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches BJP’s Election Campaign in Kerala, Empowering Women

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a monumental gathering of over 2 lakh women in Thrissur, marking the official launch of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Dubbed ‘Sthree Shakthi Modikk Oppam’ (Empower Women with PM Modi), the convention celebrated the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament. The event, organized by the Kerala unit of the BJP, welcomed women from diverse backgrounds, including anganwadi teachers, ASHA workers, entrepreneurs, artists, and social activists.

The gathering, although focused on empowering women, also signaled the BJP’s strategic initiation of their election campaign in Kerala. With the state currently under the dominance of CPI(M)-led LDF and Congress-led UDF, the BJP aims to strengthen its political presence. Thrissur was carefully chosen as the venue, being one of the constituencies where the BJP aims for a strong performance in the upcoming polls.

K Surendran, BJP’s state chief, emphasized the participation of women from various spheres, including notable personalities such as actress-danseuse Shobhana, cricketer Minnu Mani, entrepreneur Beena Kannan, and singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi. This historic event, he claimed, would mark a significant milestone in the political history of Kerala, hinting at an anticipated decline in both ruling and opposition parties’ political influence in the state.
