Rahul Gandhi Calls for JPC Probe into Alleged Stock Market Scam
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into what he has dubbed as the “biggest stock market scam.” Gandhi’s demand comes in the wake of allegations regarding specific investment advice allegedly given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to investors ahead of the Lok Sabha election results.
Addressing a press briefing, Gandhi questioned the propriety of the PM and Home Minister offering investment advice, particularly given the sensitive nature of the information they purportedly possessed regarding election outcomes. He pointed out that both leaders had given interviews to media outlets owned by the same business group currently under investigation by SEBI for stock manipulation.
Gandhi alleged a nexus between the BJP, purportedly fake exit pollsters, and foreign investors, insinuating that certain entities profited substantially at the expense of Indian retail investors. He cited statements made by Modi and Shah prior to the election results, suggesting foreknowledge of market movements. Asserting that this issue transcended mere financial concerns, Gandhi emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to uncover any potential wrongdoing.
