Rihanna Lights Up Ambani Pre-Wedding Celebrations in Jamnagar
In a grand display of opulence and cultural festivity, pop icon Rihanna along with her troupe, arrived in Jamnagar, Gujarat, to participate in the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant. According to India Today, the renowned singer is reportedly being paid around $8-$9 million (approximately ₹66 to 74 crore) for her performance, marking a significant highlight of the festivities. Alongside Rihanna, American singer and songwriter J Brown and multi-instrumentalist Adam Blackstone also graced the event, adding to the star-studded affair.
The pre-wedding celebrations, which commenced on Wednesday, observed the traditional ‘anna seva’ ritual, where Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, Radhika Merchant, and other family members served traditional Gujarati dishes to the residents of Jogwad village near the Reliance Township. The engagement saw participation from Radhika’s maternal grandmother and parents, Viren and Shaila Merchant, embodying the spirit of community service. Over the next few days, approximately 51,000 residents are expected to be served, immersing them in the joy of the upcoming union.
The event not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of India through traditional folk music performed by renowned Gujarati singer Kirtidan Gadhvi but also set a precedent in celebrating the amalgamation of cultures with the presence of international celebrities and dignitaries. Among the guests were eminent figures like former Prime Ministers Carl Bildt and Stephen Harper, Google President Donald Harrison, and WEF Chairperson Klaus Schwab. The festivities are a testament to the Ambani family’s influence, bridging global icons with local traditions, as they prepare for the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant scheduled for July 12 this year.
