A Canadian media reports that a top Khalistan leader, Jaspal Atwal, who was convicted in the shooting of Punjab Minister Malkiat Sondhi in the year 1986, has attended an official function, held in Mumbai, in which the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has been the prime guest.

The media report add that the Khalistan leader has also been invited to attend a similar event in Delhi.

The media house, named CBC News, claims that when the media house has asked the Canadian Prime Minister Office about the invitation, the authorities have tactically cancelled the invitation.

If the new report published by the Canadian media is trustable, it can be assumed that the Canadian Prime Minister has violated his own statement that he would not support Khalistan separatist.

Earlier, there were reports that the Canadian PM was not granted an enthusiastic welcome, like the one the central government and the state governments usually give to the visiting developed country’s supremos.

The Canadian authorities have not yet commended anything in response to the news publicised by their country’s popular media house.

Political observers assert that it is unlikely that the Canadian leader has purposefully invited the Khalistan event to the function held in Mumbai and Delhi.

They add that it is unfair to politicise the Canadian PM’s visit and his actions. They further add that if Canada and India create a strong bilateral relation, both countries can hugely benefit from the deal.
