Travel Influencer Aanvi Kamdar Dies After Falling from Kumbhe Waterfall
Mumbai-based travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar, 27, tragically died after falling into a 300-foot gorge while shooting an Instagram Reel at the Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on July 16. Kamdar, a chartered accountant who documented her travels on Instagram under the handle @theglocaljournal, was accompanied by seven friends during the outing. While shooting a video, she slipped and fell, prompting immediate action from local authorities and rescue teams.
The rescue operation, involving the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff, faced significant challenges due to the terrain and weather. Rescuers utilized a vertical pulley system to reach and retrieve Kamdar, who was injured and trapped amidst falling stones. The rescue effort lasted six hours amid heavy rainfall, making the operation particularly difficult.
Despite being rushed to the nearby Mangaon Taluka government hospital, Kamdar succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Authorities have since urged tourists to exercise extreme caution when visiting waterfalls, especially during the monsoon season, to prevent such tragic accidents.
