Uddhav Thackeray in Delhi for Crucial Strategy Session with Congress

Maharashtra leader Uddhav Thackeray is in Delhi for a three-day visit, focusing on a strategic meeting with alliance partner Congress ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections. The highlight will be a session with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi. This marks their first meeting since the Lok Sabha elections, with other INDIA bloc parties, including the Trinamool Congress, expected to participate.

Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut, hosting Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray, emphasized the importance of the Delhi discussions. “Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi are in Delhi so the discussion will be held in Delhi. We want to bring a government in the state,” Raut stated. The upcoming assembly election for Maharashtra’s 288 seats is a chance for Thackeray’s faction to make a significant comeback following the tumultuous political climate since the 2019 elections.

Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole has expressed confidence in an inevitable change in government. Tomorrow’s strategy session aims to finalize a roadmap, with seat-sharing talks for the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi—comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s faction of the NCP—planned for Mumbai. The BJP, which had previously allied with the undivided Sena, saw a significant decline in the recent Lok Sabha elections, winning only nine seats compared to the 23 seats in 2019.
