Uddhav Thackeray submits his resignation to the governor of Maharashtra

Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena, performed prayers at a Mumbai temple after presenting his resignation as governor of Maharashtra to Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday evening.
At the temple, Uddhav Thackeray was joined by his sons Aaditya and Tejas.

Uddhav Thackeray, the chief minister of Maharashtra, handed in his letter of resignation to state governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. He was facing a floor test in the assembly and a political crisis inside the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

When Uddhav Thackeray submitted his resignation, the governor accepted it and asked him to serve as CM till a replacement was found. Aditya Thackeray, the father, and Mr. Thackeray travelled separately to Raj Bhavan. As he filed the resignation, he momentarily waved his hand.

Minutes after the Supreme Court on Wednesday permitted floor tests in the Maharashtra assembly on Thursday, Thackeray announced his resignation.  He declared, “I am resigning as Chief Minister.” In addition, he made his resignation as MLC public.

Following a Shiv Sena uprising, the MVA government in Maharashtra has been experiencing a political crisis. Eknath Shinde’s dissident MLAs were camped out in Guwahati. Mr. Thackeray stated in his earlier media address that he would return to Shiv Sena Bhavan and would not be leaving for good.

Shiv Sena partnered with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress to create the Maharashtra administration, and Uddhav Thackeray was appointed chief minister as a result. The leadership of the Shiv Sena disagreed with its pre-election ally BJP and desired the position of Chief Minister. Additionally, Uddhav Thackeray conveyed his gratitude to the coalition government’s partners, the NCP and Congress.
