Woman Attempts Suicide Near Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM’s Office Over Land Dispute

A woman identified as Durga Devi from Srikakulam district attempted suicide near the camp office of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in Vijayawada on Tuesday. She tried to end her life by climbing an abandoned building but was promptly rescued by police who then took her into custody.

Durga Devi alleged that she lost her land to occupation by leaders of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Srikakulam. Despite her repeated pleas for action, no measures were taken by the party leaders, leading her to take this drastic step. Eyewitnesses at the scene supported her claims of land-grabbing by YSRCP leaders.

This incident comes amid increasing allegations of land-grabbing against YSRCP leaders across the state. Following the demolition of the YSRCP party office in Guntur district and notices to two more offices in Visakhapatnam, the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has asserted that similar violations are being uncovered statewide. An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances leading to Durga Devi’s actions.
