MS Dhoni Appointed Brand Ambassador for Jharkhand Assembly Elections
Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections by the Election Commission. Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar confirmed that Dhoni has granted permission to use his image to promote voter mobilization efforts, particularly under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SWEEP) program, which aims to increase awareness and encourage voting, especially among younger voters.
With his massive fan following, Dhoni is expected to play a significant role in boosting voter turnout. According to Kumar, the Election Commission is in close contact with Dhoni to finalize other details for the campaign, and they are hopeful his popularity will inspire greater electoral participation.
The Jharkhand elections are set to take place over two phases, with 43 constituencies voting on November 13 and the remainder on November 20. Parties, including the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have formed alliances and announced candidate lists in preparation for the elections, with results to be declared on November 23.
