India-Germany Partnership a Strong Anchor Amid Global Tensions, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the strength of the India-Germany strategic partnership during the Seventh Inter-Governmental Consultations with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, amid growing global uncertainties. Addressing the meeting, PM Modi highlighted that the partnership has transformed into a robust alliance between two capable democracies, especially at a time when the Indo-Pacific region faces challenges to the rule of law and navigation freedom.

Chancellor Scholz’s third visit to India underscored a “triple celebration” of the countries’ longstanding friendship. PM Modi reflected on the substantial progress made since the last IGC in Berlin in 2022, noting advances in areas such as defense, technology, energy, and sustainable development, which symbolize the deepening mutual trust and cooperation between India and Germany.

The prime minister also welcomed Germany’s ‘Focus on India’ strategy and noted that the partnership was evolving from a “Whole of Government” approach to a “Whole of Nation” commitment, expanding cooperation across various sectors. Launched in 2011, the IGC framework enables both nations to review and expand their cooperative efforts regularly.
