Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Files Nomination from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi Expresses Confidence in Her Leadership
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra officially filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday, formerly represented by her brother Rahul Gandhi from 2019 to 2024. In a candid moment captured on video, the Congress leader spoke fondly of his sister’s potential as a Member of Parliament, saying she would be a “good MP” and praising her attention to detail and deep care for people. He humorously noted that it would be tough to decide if Priyanka could be a better MP than him, but ultimately backed her as the right choice for Wayanad.
During their light-hearted exchange on the bus, Rahul Gandhi acknowledged his bond with the people of Wayanad, admitting he would miss representing the constituency. Priyanka Gandhi, in response, expressed her hopes of continuing that special relationship with the community. Rahul emphasized that a significant part of being a successful MP is genuinely liking the people and the place, and he believed Priyanka would thrive in this role.
Rahul Gandhi, who won both Wayanad and Rae Bareli in the recent Lok Sabha polls, chose to retain the Rae Bareli seat, leading to the by-poll in Wayanad. He noted that Wayanad now has the unique distinction of having “two MPs” — one official and one unofficial — who would work together to serve the constituency’s interests.
