Ajit Ravi’s 100 Life Challenge: A Decade of Selfless Service
In 2015, Ajit Ravi, then Superintendent of the Fire and Safety Department at Cochin International Airport Limited, launched the 100 Life Challenge — an initiative aimed at supporting 100 lives through genuine commitment rather than mere acts of courage. Unlike media-driven no-cost challenges such as the Ice Bucket or Rice Bucket challenges, Ajit’s mission focused on providing life-saving heart surgeries for underprivileged patients and later expanded to support medical care, education, and other essential services.
For 100 consecutive months, Ajit pledged 100% of his post-tax salary for eight hours of work to charity, demonstrating unwavering dedication even during financial uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. At one point, despite not receiving his salary due to work-related delays, he personally contributed an equivalent amount to continue supporting the mission. His efforts highlight the power of Individual Social Responsibility (ISR) in driving meaningful social change.
Ajit laments that, to date, no one else has accepted his challenge, attributing this to the lack of media attention or personal recognition. He emphasizes that in an era where social service often seeks publicity, true charity does not require the spotlight. The 100 Life Challenge stands as a testament to selfless action and the enduring impact of personal commitment to society.
