Duran Lantink Makes Bold Debut as Jean Paul Gaultier’s Creative Director

After months of anticipation, Duran Lantink officially made his debut at Jean Paul Gaultier with the ready-to-wear Spring/Summer 2026 collection, titled ‘Junior’. Known for transforming classic wardrobe staples into inflated, sculptural pieces, Lantink infused his distinctive design language with Gaultier’s iconic heritage. The collection marked the return of ready-to-wear to the catwalk after several years of guest designers shaping the house’s couture line. Lantink’s playful yet provocative approach was immediately evident, blending references to Gaultier’s signature cone bra corsets, nautical motifs, and bold allusions to the naked body.

The collection showcased Lantink’s signature inflated elements across various garments, from bikinis and bomber jackets to exaggerated shoulder details. Daring cut-outs and minimal coverage featured prominently in both menswear and womenswear, including skirts with dangerously low side slits and tops barely covering the chest. Sailor hats were reimagined, and illusionary tattoos added a theatrical touch, demonstrating Lantink’s commitment to pushing boundaries while honoring the house’s avant-garde DNA.

Provocative prints depicting the human body—including hairy torsos and explicit imagery—emphasized Lantink’s fearless design philosophy, resonating with Gaultier’s legendary provocative spirit. The fashion world watched closely as Gaultier himself applauded from the front row. With this successful ready-to-wear debut, anticipation now turns to Lantink’s haute couture presentation in January, promising even more daring innovation for the storied French fashion house.
