ASOS Says Cyberattack Exposed Customer Personal Data
British online fashion retailer ASOS said on Thursday that a cybersecurity breach earlier this week exposed some customers’ personal information, including names and contact details, according to its investigation.
The company said attackers also accessed certain non-personal account-related information. However, payment card details and account passwords were not accessed, ASOS said in an email to customers. The retailer added that its website and app remain safe to use and that additional security measures have been implemented.
ASOS shares, which had fallen sharply this week after the breach was first disclosed, rose 3.5% in morning trading as investors appeared reassured by the news that payment information was not compromised. The company said its investigation into the incident is continuing.
