DSM-Firmenich Reports 5% Sales Growth in Q3, Raises Full-Year Outlook
DSM-Firmenich reported third-quarter adjusted core earnings slightly above market expectations, supported by new contract wins and strong sales growth. The Swiss-Dutch nutrition, health and beauty group posted adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of €482 million, marginally exceeding the analyst consensus of €478 million. Sales increased to €2.37 billion from €2.24 billion in the same period last year, while like-for-like sales grew 5%, surpassing market expectations of 4.7%.
CEO Dimitri de Vreeze said all business segments contributed positively, driven by volume-led growth and continued improvements in adjusted EBITDA margins. The company also highlighted progress in its cost-saving and restructuring initiatives, along with a continued focus on cash generation and capital discipline. DSM-Firmenich said it remained on track to achieve its 2026 targets and was building a strong foundation for its 2027-2028 objectives.
Despite the positive results, the company’s shares fell 7.5% in early trading, as investors remained unimpressed by performance that largely matched expectations. Analysts noted that the improved outlook had already been reflected in market forecasts. DSM-Firmenich raised its full-year sales growth guidance to around 5%, compared with its earlier projection of 2% to 4%, citing supportive business conditions heading into the final quarter. The company’s performance comes amid improving demand in the fragrance sector, with rival Givaudan recently reporting strong growth in fine fragrances.
