Actress Rashmika Mandanna Denounces Deepfake Video, Calls for Action

Actress Rashmika Mandanna has taken to social media to denounce a viral deepfake video that falsely portrays her entering an elevator, calling it “extremely scary.” The video, which has been widely circulated, features British-Indian influencer Zara Patel with her face morphed into Rashmika Mandanna’s using deepfake technology. The actress expressed her concern not only for herself but also for the broader community facing the risks of technology misuse. She highlighted the urgent need to address this issue to protect individuals from identity theft.

The deepfake video garnered significant outrage and support from various quarters, including Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who called for legal action to be taken against those responsible. Both Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna recently co-starred in the film “Goodbye.” Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar emphasized the legal obligations of social media platforms in combating misinformation under the IT rules and stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and trust of internet users.

Rashmika Mandanna, known for her recent appearance in “Mission Majnu,” has an eagerly anticipated release in “Animal,” where she stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor. She will also be seen in the highly awaited film “Pushpa: The Rule” opposite Allu Arjun, set to hit the screens next year. The incident highlights the growing concern surrounding deepfake technology and the need for stronger measures to combat its misuse and protect individuals from potential harm.
