Bengaluru Cafe Blast: Investigation Underway as Police Hunt for Suspect

A forensic investigation team, alongside a bomb disposal and dog squad, delved into the details of the bomb blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area, which left 10 people injured. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, prompted the Bengaluru police to file an FIR citing serious charges under the IPC and UAPA, alongside sections of the Explosive Substance Act. The Karnataka Home Minister, Dr. G Parameshwara, revealed that the suspect is believed to have arrived at the scene via public bus, with police currently analyzing CCTV footage to gather visual evidence and expedite the arrest.

In a significant development, it was disclosed that the blast was orchestrated using a timer, pointing towards a premeditated attack. The Karnataka government has responded by forming eight dedicated teams to unravel the incident’s intricacies. Deputy CM Shivakumar shared insights into the modus operandi, where a man left a small bag at the cafe which exploded an hour later, causing injuries but thankfully, no fatalities. The suspect, described as a young man aged between 28-30, had visited the cafe for breakfast before leaving behind the bag containing the improvised explosive device (IED).

The incident has drawn national attention, with calls for an NIA investigation led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who condemned the act vehemently. Joshi criticized the Congress-led state government for its alleged leniency towards radical elements, linking it to the blast. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner has urged media restraint and public cooperation as the investigation proceeds, emphasizing the sensitivity and the security implications of the case. The city remains on high alert as authorities work tirelessly to apprehend the suspect and ensure the safety of its residents.
