CBI Intensifies Probe into Kolkata Doctor’s Rape-Murder Case, Questions Former RG Kar Medical College Head
In a dramatic escalation of the investigation into the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor, the CBI has subjected Sandip Ghosh, the former head of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, to a rigorous interrogation over the past three days. Ghosh was questioned late into the night and is again summoned for further questioning today. Key issues under scrutiny include the rapid declaration of the death as a suicide, the handling and preservation of the crime scene, and the delayed notification to the victim’s family.
The CBI’s line of questioning has probed Ghosh’s actions following the discovery of the doctor’s body, specifically focusing on his decision to resign shortly after the incident and the sudden renovation of rooms near the seminar hall where the body was found. Additionally, Ghosh has been asked to explain the delay in showing the body to the family, the information given to them, and the overall security arrangements at the hospital.
As the investigation deepens, the CBI is examining Ghosh’s phone records and chat history, with plans to obtain detailed call and data consumption records from his service provider. The case has ignited widespread outrage, with doctors across the nation suspending non-emergency duties and staging protests demanding justice for the victim.
