Enforcement Directorate Summons Tejashwi Yadav in Railway Land-for-Jobs Scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its investigation into the alleged railway land-for-jobs scam, issuing a fresh summons to Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and prominent RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav. As per PTI reports, the ED has directed Yadav to appear before them on January 5 in connection with the case. This development follows his earlier summons for December 22, which Yadav, 34, chose to skip, dismissing the notice as a routine affair.

The focus of the investigation extends to the tenure when Tejashwi’s father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, held the position of Railway Minister during the UPA-1 government. Lalu Prasad Yadav himself has been summoned by the ED to depose on December 27 at their headquarters in Delhi. The alleged irregularities revolve around the period between 2004 and 2009 when purportedly, individuals were granted Group “D” category jobs across different railway zones after transferring land to the family members of the then Railway Minister, Mr. Prasad, and a connected entity identified as A K Infosystems Private Limited.

The case has drawn attention due to the alleged exchange of land for employment, raising concerns about possible corruption and misuse of authority during the specified period. The ED’s summons to both Tejashwi Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav underscores the agency’s determination to probe the matter thoroughly and ascertain any potential irregularities, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation into this contentious issue.
