Facib Secures European Avirex Licence, Expands Brand Portfolio

Italian apparel group Facib has secured a 10-year licence for the European production and distribution of iconic American brand Avirex, marking a significant addition to its portfolio. Founded in 1932 and officially trademarked in 1975, Avirex is renowned for its aviation-inspired heritage and gained global recognition through its association with the film Top Gun and later the hip-hop scene. Facib CEO Massimo Cortesi said the company aims to reintroduce the brand to the European wholesale market after a two-decade absence, targeting major department stores across Italy, France, Spain and Germany, beginning with the Spring/Summer 2027 season.

The initial Avirex collection will focus on menswear, featuring the brand’s signature chinos in 11 colours and a range of Bermuda shorts. Facib plans to expand into womenswear and a full lifestyle offering, including the label’s famous leather outerwear, from Autumn/Winter 2027-28, followed by childrenswear collections. Cortesi said the strategy is to build a concise but highly recognisable product range while maintaining accessible pricing and strong margins for retail partners.

Alongside Avirex, Facib is accelerating growth for Outhere, the outerwear brand in which it acquired a 60% stake two years ago. The company unveiled new trainers and swimwear for Spring/Summer 2027 and confirmed the launch of an Outhere womenswear line for Autumn/Winter 2027-28. Currently stocked in around 400 multi-brand stores across Europe, Outhere is targeting rapid expansion, with Facib forecasting sales growth of at least 200% next season. The group, which also owns Armata di Mare and Bro and manages licences for Piquadro and Conte of Florence, expects to close its financial year with revenue of approximately €15 million, up 10% year-on-year.
