FIR Registered Against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA Site Allotment Case
The Lokayukta Police have registered an FIR against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case. The move follows a special court order in Bengaluru directing an investigation into allegations of illegal allotment of 14 sites worth ₹56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi. The order was based on a complaint filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, after the Karnataka High Court upheld Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s sanction to probe the case.
The High Court bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna had earlier ruled that the Governor could take independent decisions under exceptional circumstances, dismissing Siddaramaiah’s plea to quash the investigation. Despite mounting pressure from the opposition BJP demanding his resignation, Siddaramaiah has asserted that he will not step down, claiming that the case is politically motivated.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Karnataka government has withdrawn general consent for the CBI to investigate cases in the state, citing bias in the federal agency. The BJP has criticized the move, accusing the Congress government of attempting to shield itself from legal scrutiny in the wake of the MUDA scam allegations.
