Former Rajasthan CM Gehlot Accused of Unlawful Surveillance and Media Manipulation by Ex-OSD

In a recent shocking revelation, Lokesh Sharma, the former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for ex-Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, accused him of ordering the surveillance and tracking of phones of Congress rebels, including Sachin Pilot, during the 2020 party crisis. Sharma claimed Gehlot directed him to distribute recordings of intercepted calls to the media. These allegations were made public late Wednesday, with Sharma showcasing a pen drive that he claimed contained the audio clips given to him by Gehlot.

The crisis in question dates back to 2020 when audio clips surfaced, allegedly showcasing plans by some Congress MLAs to overthrow the Gehlot government. Sharma, who is also implicated in a criminal FIR related to these audio clips, asserted that contrary to previous statements, he did not receive the clips from social media but directly from Gehlot. He alleged that the recordings were part of a strategy to frame the BJP for the political unrest, which was spearheaded by then Deputy CM Pilot.

The timing of these allegations comes as Sharma faces continued legal battles, with his next court appearance scheduled for early May. He expressed his inability to endure the mental strain from these proceedings any longer. In his statement, Sharma also criticized Gehlot for using his services for political gain and subsequently abandoning him after stabilizing his government. The Congress has dismissed Sharma’s claims, suggesting he is acting under the influence of BJP leaders.
