GU Debuts First Collaboration with Engineered Garments, Launching December 5

GU, the sister brand of Uniqlo under the Fast Retailing Group, has announced its first-ever collaboration with New York-based label Engineered Garments. The limited-edition, five-piece capsule will debut on December 5 both online and at the GU SoHo flagship in New York City. The collection features GU essentials reimagined with Engineered Garments’ signature aesthetic, including deep navy tones and functional, heritage-inspired detailing.

Designed around the theme of “Manhattanism,” the collaboration blends classic American workwear influences with GU’s accessible craftsmanship. Founder Daiki Suzuki highlighted the shared dedication to quality between the two brands, noting that their combined sensibilities have produced pieces that remain true to Engineered Garments’ DNA while offering GU’s affordability. The collection features padded, windproof outerwear with adjustable hems, a pullover-style fleece jacket with a concealed opening, heavyweight sweatshirts and sweat pants, and a shawl-collar cable-knit cardigan with elbow-patch accents.

Inspired by the energy of 1970s New York, the pieces come in navy, olive, and grey, with prices ranging from 39.90 to 99.90 USD. GU, founded in 2006 and known for delivering trend-forward fashion with “a touch of Tokyo,” continues expanding its global presence following the opening of its first U.S. flagship in 2024.
