IRCTC Partners with Swiggy to Deliver Food on Trains Across India

In a groundbreaking development, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced a partnership with leading food delivery platform Swiggy, aimed at enhancing the dining experience of train passengers. Through a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) signed between IRCTC and Swiggy, passengers will soon enjoy the convenience of having their favorite meals delivered directly to their train seats. The collaboration, marking a significant step towards combining technology with hospitality, was formalized by IRCTC’s chairman and managing director, Sanjay Kumar Jain, and Swiggy’s CEO, Rohit Kapoor.

The service is set to be introduced at 63 stations across India, with an initial rollout at Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada. This initiative is part of IRCTC’s ongoing efforts to make train journeys more comfortable and enjoyable by offering a wider range of food options to its passengers. Swiggy’s vast network of restaurants will ensure that passengers can explore a variety of cuisines during their travels, thereby enriching their journey with India’s culinary diversity.

Passengers can avail themselves of this service by pre-ordering their meals via the IRCTC app, where they can browse through an extensive list of restaurants on Swiggy, select their preferred station for food delivery, and choose a restaurant that delivers at the specified location and time. Swiggy’s delivery partners will ensure the food, packaged in insulated containers, reaches passengers at the designated platform, adding a new layer of convenience to train travel in India.
