Kangana Ranaut Responds to Sonu Sood’s Post on Kanwar Yatra Order

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut has challenged actor Sonu Sood’s position on the Uttar Pradesh government’s order requiring food shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners’ names.

Sonu Sood had criticized the directive by suggesting that shops should only display a sign saying “HUMANITY.” His post, shared on X, led to backlash from several users, who perceived it as a critique of the government’s mandate.

In response, Kangana Ranaut supported Sood’s viewpoint but added that “HALAL” should also be replaced with “HUMANITY” on shop signs.

Screenwriter Javed Akhtar also weighed in on the controversy, condemning the policy by drawing a parallel to discriminatory practices in Nazi Germany.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered that shops and eateries on the Kanwar Yatra route display the name and identity of the owner. Additionally, action will be taken against those selling halal-certified products. This directive has sparked a political clash between the BJP and opposition parties.
