Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Defends PM Modi Against Opposition’s Aurangzeb Comparison

In a recent statement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde criticized the Opposition for drawing parallels between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Shinde’s comments were a response to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s indirect critique of PM Modi, which Shinde regarded as a national insult. Highlighting the achievements of the Prime Minister, Shinde emphasized that Modi fulfilled Bal Thackeray’s vision by revoking Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which should not be overshadowed by unfavorable comparisons.

During his address, Shinde lamented the comparison as “very unfortunate,” especially given Modi’s role in realizing Balasaheb Thackeray’s dream of constructing the Ram Mandir. He strongly believed that such remarks were derogatory to the nation’s integrity and assured that the electorate would respond accordingly in upcoming elections. Shinde’s defense showcases the ongoing political discourse in Maharashtra, where historical figures and their legacies continue to influence contemporary politics.

The political tension was further stoked by Sanjay Raut’s comments, drawing a parallel between historical and current political strategies. Raut highlighted the divisive policies of Aurangzeb and insinuated similarities with the current political leadership in Delhi, without naming individuals directly. This exchange underscores the deep-rooted political rivalry in Maharashtra, reflecting the broader national debate on governance and historical legacy.
