Parliament Intruders Revealed Alternate Plans Before Breach; BJP MP’s Involvement Probed

Five individuals apprehended in connection with the December 13 Parliament security breach disclosed a sequence of alternative strategies before executing their plan to infiltrate the Lok Sabha chamber, according to revelations made by Delhi Police officials today. The accused, identified as Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Amol Shinde, Neelam Devi, and Lalit Jha, had contemplated various methods to convey their message to the government before deciding on their disruptive course of action.

Their initial considerations reportedly included self-immolation using fireproof gel and the distribution of pamphlets within the Parliament premises. However, these ideas were eventually discarded in favor of their executed plan, which involved jumping into the Lok Sabha’s chamber from the public gallery, releasing yellow smoke canisters, and vocalizing slogans during Zero Hour, subsequently leading to their swift apprehension by MPs.

The investigation has now turned towards BJP MP Pratap Simha, who sanctioned visitor passes for the two individuals, Sharma and Manoranjan, enabling their unauthorized entry into the House. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell, responsible for probing the breach, intends to record Simha’s statement in connection to the case.

Following their arrests, the accused were escorted by investigators to various locations pivotal to their meetings and conspiracy leading up to the breach. Authorities are also contemplating seeking Parliament’s authorization to recreate the breach incident, which occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 attacks.

Additionally, suspicions remain regarding Mahesh Kumwat and Kailash’s alleged involvement in aiding Jha’s escape. Efforts are underway to transport Jha to Nagaur in Rajasthan, where he reportedly stayed post-escape. Investigators aim to visit the location where Jha claimed to have disposed of mobile phones, including his and others associated with the breach. All five apprehended individuals have been remanded to seven days’ police custody as the investigation unfolds.
