Qantas Selects Designer Rebecca Vallance for New Uniform Overhaul
Australian airline Qantas has announced that celebrated fashion designer Rebecca Vallance will create its new staff uniforms, marking the carrier’s first major redesign in more than a decade. The new look, which will replace the current Martin Grant–designed uniform introduced in 2014, is scheduled to launch in 2027 following a competitive pitch process. Vallance joins an esteemed list of past designers for Qantas, including Yves Saint Laurent, Emilio Pucci, George Gross and Harry Who, and Peter Morrissey.
Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson said the redesign would symbolize the airline’s next era and reflect the pride of its 17,500 uniformed employees across pilots, cabin crew, engineering, and airports. “Our uniform represents the Qantas spirit all over the world,” Hudson said, adding that Vallance will work closely with staff feedback on durability, functionality, and comfort as part of the design journey.
Sharing her vision, Vallance said the new uniform would “reflect the modern sophistication and spirit of the Qantas team” while remaining iconic and wearable. Calling the project a milestone for her career and brand, she emphasized her gratitude for the opportunity: “This is a defining moment, not just because of the scale, but because of the trust Qantas has placed in me.”
