Topshop Unveils World’s First AI-Driven Shoppable Catwalk

Topshop stepped into the future of fashion this week with an AI-powered, fully shoppable runway experience in Manchester, billed as a world first. The event, hosted through the ‘Front Row AI’ app developed by THG Ingenuity, transformed the traditional catwalk into an interactive commerce platform where audiences could engage with the show in real time, virtually try on outfits, and purchase looks directly from the runway. An AI host guided attendees alongside digital creator Patricia Bright, while interactive stylists using Noonah technology and Google Cloud enabled immersive virtual try-ons. Thirty models — a mix of human talent and digital avatars — presented the collection, with 80 percent of items available for purchase during the event.

The finale spotlighted emerging designers, featuring pieces created by students from the University of Salford and Manchester Metropolitan University, underscoring a commitment to nurturing next-generation talent. According to THG Ingenuity’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer Hannah Pym, the event demonstrated a new blueprint for retail engagement. She described the showcase as proof that blending creativity with advanced technology can deliver deeply personal and commercially powerful experiences, adding that the initiative reflects a future where “content is the new storefront.”

Simultaneously, Topshop reinforced its global comeback by headlining a dedicated runway show at the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival in Australia, supported by retailer Myer. The presentation highlighted the brand’s latest collection and signaled its renewed presence in the region, positioning Topshop’s return as both a technological and international revival.
